생산 공학은 사이버 물리, 디지털 트윈, 인공지능, 5G 네트워크, 클라우드 등의 새로운 정보화 기술을 통해 스마트 생산, Industry 4.0, 4차 산업 혁명 등과 같은 새로운 패러다임으로 발전하고 있습니다. 본 연구실은 생산 공학, 측정 및 제어 공학, 정보화 기술 등 다양한 분야의 융합을 통해 스마트 생산을 위한 요소 기술 및 응용 기술 연구하고 있습니다. 특히 아래와 같은 생산 시스템을 구현하는 것을 목표로, 해당 분야를 선도하고자 합니다.

Manufacturing engineering is advancing to new paradigm: smart manufacturing, Industry 4.0, 4th industrial revolution. It is stimulated by new information and communication technologies (ICT) like cyber-physical system (CPS), digital twin, artificial intelligence, 5G network, and cloud computing. This lab is studying core technologies and applications via integration of manufacturing engineering, measurement and control, ICT, and so on. We are committed to advance smart manufacturing via the research of core technologies: 1) autonomous manufacturing via self-decision making, 2) 24 hours lights-out factory, 3) AI-based robotic manufacturing. We are also trying to overcome global issues of declining population for manufacturing and transferring expert knowledge by 1) digitalizing skills of experts, 2) robotic manufacturing of non-rigid objects, 3) smart transition of legacy machines, 4) Remote manufacturing in mixed reality, 5) AI-based prediction of machine health.
